Pediatrician and writer Dr. Ghaleb Khalayli, our colleague in (Ta’min Wa Masaref ) magazine “Insurance and Banks” and (Tabibok ) magazine “Your Doctor”, and the writer in several Arab periodicals, underwent a few days ago an open heart surgery, which was crowned with success, praise be to God
He is currently convalescing before resuming his work in his clinic, and returning to his writing activity
Despite the aches, he feels to the point that Panadol has become his “dear friend ,” as he told us, he took the initiative to write this article, responding to our will, about the hospital and doctors, leaving the (fatty) article about his health experience to a second article published on the magazine’s pages
It was a sharp pain in the left shoulder on exertion and stress, few months ago.
First, my eyes went to Kings College’s London Hospital in Dubai, where my fellow in medical institut, Dr. Omar Hallaq , who became a famous interventional cardiologist, works. That was on July 28th, 2021
There, he performed a stress test for me, which moved me from “Medclinic” Al Ain ( Dr. Abdullah Shehab ), then “The American Hospital, Dubai” ( Dr. Firas Al Aani, Dr. Hayman Lokraz) , to the “Tawam” hospital in Al Ain ( Dr. Ahmed Seddiqi, Dr. Ali Al Shamsi, Dr. Mohammed Andron in Mediclinic Abu Dhabi), and finally to Dr. Gopal Bhatnagar in Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi Hospital, where the surgery took place on Tuesday, August 24th, 2021
To be honest, I say that all of the honorable colleagues I met, starting with my colleague Omar Hallaq, were of the utmost scientific, moral and politeness, which left a beautiful and unforgettable impression on me
But why Cleveland Abu Dhabi
Is that because it is one of the most luxurious places, or because it is one of the most advanced, immeasurable scientific and technical progress
All of the above is true, but the choice fell on it because it was the most suitable hospital for my financial and my heart condition.
My insurance company agreed at the end to bear the high costs, which made it difficult to secure it elsewhere
And it was in the hands of the head of the Surgical Heart Institute, Dr. Gopal Bhatnagar, who performed several thousands of cardiac surgeries before, including a large portion on beating hearts (that is, the circulation during the operation is not transferred to the pump)
After a very careful study of my condition, the surgery was decided upon for me, from which I am now gradually recovering, and I hope to write to you its details in a separate article
